Almora Old Town & Mall Road

Kosi Riverbed Walk

Jageshwar Dham
A cluster of 124 ancient stone temples dating to the 7th–12th centuries, set inside a dense deodar forest. One of the 12 Jyotirlingas. The approach road through the forest is as sacred as the temple itself.
Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary
A high-altitude (2,500m) wildlife sanctuary famous for birdwatching — over 200 species recorded. The Zero Point viewpoint here has an unbroken 300km view of the Himalayan range.
Ranikhet
A former British cantonment town with wide, pine-lined avenues, colonial bungalows, and a famous golf course. The sunset from the Chaubatia orchards is one of Kumaon's finest views.
Kausani
Gandhi called it "India's Switzerland." Kausani sits on a narrow ridge with a panoramic view of the Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Panchachuli ranges. Visit the tea gardens and the Anashakti Ashram where Gandhi stayed.
Dwarahat
An ancient town with over 60 Katyuri-era temples, some of the finest stone carvings in Kumaon, and almost no tourists. A hidden gem for those interested in early medieval Hindu architecture.
Dhaulchina
A little-known forest ridge walk above Almora with extraordinary views. The trail passes through rhododendron groves that bloom in spectacular red from March to April.

Chaukori
One of Kumaon's most underrated destinations — a high ridge village with tea estates, rhododendron forests, and a face-on view of the Panchchuli peaks. Genuinely quiet, even in season.

Jim Corbett National Park
India's oldest and most famous tiger reserve. The Dhikala zone is the most rewarding but needs advance booking. The park's birds, elephants, and river otters are equally spectacular.

The gateway to the Johar Valley and the glaciers — Milam and Ralam. From Munsiyari's Thamdi Udiyar meadow, you can see all five Panchchuli peaks at once. A true end-of-the-road destination.
